Created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, International Cat day is celebrated on 8 August every year. Managed since 2020 by the organisation International Cat Care, a not-for-profit British organization that has been striving to improve the health and welfare of domestic cats worldwide since 1958, the day is meant to raise awareness about domestic cats, dispel myths about them, and act as a campaign for the millions of homeless cats worldwide to get adopted.
