Lounge Loves: Freshly made nut butters
Foodhall, Future Group's luxury food store, churns out freshly ground nut butters while you wait
Good fats" have been a major buzzword on the food front this year and Foodhall, Future Group’s luxury food store, has joined the fray with freshly ground nut butters, churned out while you wait.
In commercial nut butters, only about 70% is actual nuts, the store manager at Foodhall tells us. The rest is added sugar, preservatives, emulsifiers and palm and vegetable oils to up the shelf life of the product. But the old-school grinder at Foodhall turns Junagadh peanuts and California almonds into 100% pure nut butter, without even added salt. The result is a naturally sweet, creamy but textured product that you’ll want to eat out the jar by the spoonful.
There is no customization option yet. But its milder flavour means it’s easily modified at home—from a pinch of cayenne in it at breakfast to a swirl of chocolate to turn it into dessert. Spread it on bread, roll it in a roti, add it to ice-cream, or use a spoonful to add richness to a curry, the possibilities are endless. The peanut butter is priced at Rs140 for 100g and almond butter at Rs275 for 100g.
Though currently only available in Mumbai, these nut-butter machines will also be rolled out in Delhi and Bengaluru over the next couple of months.
