Customize your Android phone with these apps
One of the charms of Android is that you can make your phone's interface more colourful and user-friendly
One of the advantages of the Android smartphone platform is all about the customisations that it allows. It is not always about applying a new launcher to change the look and feel of the interface. User can make little changes to the phone’s interface while keeping most of the default layout intact. These little changes can be applying beautiful wallpapers, customising the way the phone shows notifications or changing the navigation bar.
Dimly- Screen Dimmer
If your phone doesn’t have one of those display options to reduce stress on eyes, you can use Dimly. This app can override your phone’s default brightness settings and allow users to lower brightness below the phone’s minimum brightness levels. It also comes with built-in Bluelight filter which can reduce stress on eyes by lowering the effect of harmful blue light emanating from the screen. It also offers cool gesture controls like shaking the phone to increase brightness levels.
This is a unique notification app which changes the way notifications from your favourite apps show on your phone’s screen. Instead of simple drop down notification page, Notify clubs all notifications into colourful bubbles. User can customise the colour of the bubble so they can identify the app right away by simply looking at the bubble. If the notification is from messenger app, user can reply from the bubble itself.
A battery related customisation app, energy bar add a battery indicator over your phone’s status bar. The indicator automatically becomes short as your phone’s battery drains out. You can adjust the thickness, position, colour and design of the bar. This bar keeps users posted with the battery status all the time. However, this works only with phones running stock Android UIs.
Google’s official Wallpapers app offers some beautiful looking images including the iconic images from Google Earth. User can keep separate wallpaper on the lockscreen and a different one on the phone’s homescreen. The app is entirely free and doesn’t charge a dime for any of the wallpapers. It also provides respite from incessant advertisements that make using most of the wallpaper apps annoying.
Fast Key Launcher
If you have far too many apps on your phone, even the stock Android can start feeling cluttered. This is where Fast Key Launcher can ease things for you by adding a keyboard on the homescreen. Instead of browsing through multiple pages, user needs to type the first letter of the app’s name and the homepage will be populated with all apps and contacts starting with that letter.
This keyboard can change the look and feel of your keyboard by applying the distinct colour of the app it is opened with on its keys. So if you are writing a Facebook post, the keyboard will pick the blue colour form the Facebook app and apply it on the keys. Similarly, when it is opened with WhatsApp, the keys will automatically switch to green colour.
