Cool features of Google Photos for Android users
Google Photos is using artificial intelligence and other smart tools to help users find their images faster
Google Photos cloud storage is quite popular with smartphone users due to its close integration with Google’s Drive. However, due to its limited options, it was not very user-friendly to use. Google has added new features in it in the last few months which makes navigation through Photos easy and swift.
While it still may not qualify it as the default photo app for many, using it won’t be a challenge anymore. Here are some of the new features that every Android user can benefit from.
Smart layout
Google Photos now automatically clubs all the photos into categories based on what is common between them. This means all your WhatsApp images will be clubbed under a folder called WhatsApp by itself. Similarly, all the car images on the phone will be clubbed in a folder called Cars.
Find people
What makes the Albums feature even more interesting is the built-in AI and facial recognition tool which automatically detects all the faces in any photo and then finds old photos of people who figure in a recently taken photo. All the old photos are then presented as cards in the Albums section under People. To access this, user needs to enable Face Grouping option in Settings.
Create animation
This is another highlight of Google Photos which allows user to combine several images to create an animated slideshow. To create an animation, tap on menu icon on the right side of the screen and select animation. Animation allows one to select up to 50 images at a time.
Collage maker
Collage making apps are quite popular with smartphone users. Some social media platform like Instagram even have their own collage apps. If you have Google Photos on your phone, you don’t need another app to create a photo collage. User can create a photo collage within Google Photos by tapping on Collage in the phone’s menu and selecting two to nine photos. The collage will be saved in a folder called Collage.
Free up space
In case you want to free up space on your phone, you can delete photos that have been backed up on Google Drive. For doing this one doesn’t have to go through all the images one by one. Freeing up device storage can save users the task by finding all the photos that have been backed up online and still have a copy on the phone’s storage.
