App Radar: New apps and games for iOS and Android
The latest crop of apps include something to manage tasks, getting to know your DSLR camera better and some interesting games
In April, Google released the names of the apps and games in 12 categories that have been shortlisted for the upcoming Play Awards. The winners will be announced on 18 May at the Google I/O developer conference. But that’s not all. Microsoft has come up with the successor to its task manager app Wunderlist, but isn’t shutting down the latter right away. Google has revamped the Earth app, and it is now a lot more fun.
Google Earth
Free
Android, iOS
Google Earth’s mobile app is now available to users in India. The recent update makes the app a lot more fun. Google has added 3D maps for select locations. It provides a more detailed view of places compared to the regular satellite imagery. There is a Voyager section, which provides more interactive tours with 360-degree camera view of popular tourist places. This is a resource-intensive app and works best on 4G connection.
To Do
Free
Android, iOS
Microsoft’s new To Do app can help users organise their personal as well as professional lives by helping them remember upcoming tasks and meetings. The app allows users to highlight more important tasks than the regular ones by adding emojis and colourful themes. The app allows users to login with their Outlook account or Office 365 account and access their lists from other devices with the same account. Outlook Integration means meetings in Outlook will be synced and show in To-Do.
Podcast Go

Android
Podacst Go has a huge inventory of more than 300,000 radio shows such as Serial, S Town and Convicted. The shows are listed under categories such as arts, business comedy, education, health, religion, sports, technology and films. Users can create their own playlists by adding their favourite shows. While shows are available online, the offline mode allows users to download as many shows as they want for offline use. They are free but carries advertisements.
Nikon India

Nikon India app is designed to bring the community of Nikon camera users together. The app provides details of the latest Nikon cameras and their accessories. It also provides details of photo workshops and online programs conducted by the company. City Mania
Free
Android, iOS
Developed by Gameloft, City Mania is a city building game like the Sim City, but looks more funky and colourful. Players have to develop a tiny town into a metropolis with high rises and modern amenities. They can make the city lively by adding unique characters and monuments. The day and night time cycle adds variety and the option to zoom in provides a better look at the buildings. The controls are touch-based and the game is easy to follow.
Nonstop Chuck Norris
Free
Android, iOS
The famous role-playing action game Nonstop Chick Norris is now available on Android. Players can step into the shoes of popular martial artist Chuck Norris and take on gangs of thugs in unique locations. You can arm Norris with chainsaw and stick or pair up with other players. The third-person camera view and a simple tap on screen controls makes it easy to play. The game takes up about 100MB after installation and works offline.
