A comfortable pair of tights or joggers can go a long way if you are working out in winter. Invest in something that will cut the cold but also let you move freely without worrying about comfort. So, what kinds of leggings you should look for? Ideally, a pair that has in-built layers or fleece. Compression gear (tight-fit clothes that keep muscles warm and thus prevent muscle strain), especially after a workout, can help you recover faster. You can also layer up your lowers, depending on how cold it is. The first layer should be fitted, compression material so that it can keep moisture and sweat away from the skin. A slightly looser fleece or spandex layer can be great for the middle. And for the top-most layer, choose something that can repel water, block wind and hold in heat. Get this combination right and you’re sorted for the season! Here are three great options for a variety of workouts.
Reebok Classics Big Vector Leggings
This very casual pair of leggings is good for a slow mobility class, a yoga session or even for a walk around the park; comfortable and snug without being too tight to move in. Made of mostly cotton and 7% elastane, they're not exactly meant for outdoor workouts but can be used for a nice session within the confines of your home or gym. I would not suggest any high intensity training in these simply because sweat patches and cotton are not the greatest combo.

Asics Thermopolis Fleece Jogger
This pair of joggers was my surprise find of the season. I had initially thought that I wouldn’t be able to run in them. But that changed when I slipped them on for a workout. Light and warm, they were extremely comfortable and let me move easily. Leg day? Well, they’re comfortable enough to do heavy squats in. HIIT? Sure, do your fastest burpees and they stay put (not sliding down your waist is a win in my book). Going for a jog? Again, perfect, because they don’t heat up if you are running in winters, yet protect you from chilly winds. The joggers also work well as lounge pants while you work from home.

Decathlon Fitness Leggings
Simple and no fuss, these are the most basic workout leggings you could invest in this season. The mid-rise leggings fit well around the waist, and despite not having any drawstring, they don’t slip while running or doing cardio. The fabric remains comfortable even if you sweat and doesn’t brush against your skin too much. Again, I would recommend them for winter runs, or for slow indoor workouts, and as a first layer for warm-ups. What makes this pair extremely convenient is the side-pocket on the left leg; it's big enough to squeeze your phone in when you go for a run. The leggings do provide basic insulation from the cold, but cannot be used on an extremely chilly morning.
