Fresh produce and artisanal brands have a new weekend address in Mumbai. Conceptualised like an urban pandemic-ready farmers’ market, The Green Co-op at JioWorld in the Bandra Kurla Complex is a welcome respite after what feels like an year-long lockdown. While you can get your fill of farm-fresh ingredients, it is also a place to discover new artisanal brands such as Hatti&Giraffe, which offers “anti-dessert” laddoos made with almonds, cashews and dates, and Commbucha by MAVI, which has lip-smacking fermented drinks with apricot, blueberry and cinnamon.
This weekend, the theme is Valentine’s Day. In keeping with the mood, there will be a photo booth and food dedicated to making hearts feel warm and fuzzy. Pack in some carbs with cheesy burgers from Nino Burgers or have a go at gluten-free goodies from Mizah Bakery. Do try their delish strawberry tonka and vanilla tart, and berry celebration cake with organic pistachio. Sample artisanal pastas from Cacio-e-pepe, which offers spectacular raviolis that also come in the shape of toffees and flowers. They might even have heart-shaped raviolis this weekend. Missus Sippi is new brand to discover at The Green Co-op this weekend. It has a selection of homamade nostalgia-infusing drinks from various regions of India. Think gajar ki kanji, sol kadi, aam panna, panakam and the lip -puckering kala khatta.
For those seeking to learn something new or to keep children engaged, check out their workshops. This weekend, there’s a soap-making workshop by Label Masala. The pandemic has crystallised the curiosity to learn about growing food and instilled an interest in nurturing plants at home. For budding gardeners, there’s a seed bombing workshop by iKheti. The pottery workshop is a hotseller for allows children to make a mess. The roster of workshops at the Green changes every weekend and the updates are posted on their Instagram page @the_green_co_op.
If you are a dog owner, bring your pet along and find them a play date at the Wagtail Park. It’s a pet creche at The Green Co-op which is usually buzzing with activity and is a huge draw for children.
